Then, Bloom - Iona Prints - 5/5

My Iona collage series was made after a family trip to the island, my mum and her mum's afterlife home.

This piece, Then, Bloom, uses gorse as a funeral wreath, showing a separation between the sky and the island's hills above. This positioning represents the afterlife motif, the landscape of Iona far above the skies we can see in our world. The title describes how after the loss of a loved one, we have no choice but to continue growing, in spite of it all. The three arches represent myself, my mum, and my maternal grandmother.
